Start your owner-builder application

Once you have completed your eLearning assessment and construction induction training (if required), and assembled your documentation, you are ready to begin your application.

Important: If the required evidence is not submitted with your application, your application may be refused.

You will need a valid credit or debit card to pay your application fee.

Owner-builder applications are submitted and managed through VBA’s online self-service portal, VBA360. You will need to register an account with VBA360. Make sure you use the same email address and date of birth as the ones you used in the eLearning assessment.

What happens after you apply

It will take approximately 45 business days to process an application for a certificate of consent if all the required information is provided. The VBA will contact you via email if further information is required.

Different stages of the application process include:

1. Allocation: Your application has been received and is waiting to be assessed.
2. Assessment: Your application is being assessed by an owner-builder officer.
3. Recommendation: The owner-builder officer has finished assessing your application and made their recommendation to the owner-builder manager.
4. Decision: Your application is with the owner-builder manager and is awaiting final review. You will have a response soon.

You can manage and track your owner-builder application by logging into your VBA360 account.
